Picture the unseen landscapes of Russian wildlife 

With the diversity of numerous locations of stunning nature, rich wildlife and untouched landscapes, there are still not many photographs of the Russian nature. Wild Russia offers you a unique opportunity to explore your photo camera abilities while taking the photos of Russia's most beautiful and unseen places. You will be in a good company of one of our professional award winning wildlife photographers, an english translator and a local tour guide who knows all of the hidden spots. 

The Wild Russia team has close relationships with many National Parks (Zapovedniky) of Russia, hence we can provide access to the closed and protected areas. 

There are many locations available for you to explore: from the remote and mysterious far east Kamchatka to the land of the Northern Lights Russian Arctic, from the deepest lake in the world - the Baikal lake to the highest mountain in Europe - Mount Elbrus. The wildlife photo tours can also vary depending on your difficulty preferences: we can plan your tour to the Altai Mountains with a comfortable accommodation and hot dinners or a full on camping tour with backpacks and tuna cans.

Altai Photo Tour

Explore Altai's spectacular landscapes and forests on this photographic tour with award winning wildlife photographer Segrey Belykh, the member of Wildlife Photography Society. A local tour guide and a translator will also join your group. 

7 Day Sample Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival to Moscow

Enjoy your flight from London Heathrow to Moscow with British Airlines. Upon arrival an english speaking assistant will meet you at the airport and help you to get to the hotel in Central Moscow. Relax and refresh in your room before meeting your tour guide at the lobby and head to the city for an evening walk around the city, enjoying the city lights and the atmosphere of the capital of Russia. You will finish your evening walk at a restaurant near your hotel. 

Day 2 - Explore Moscow

After good night sleep and your breakfast at the hotel you will meet your english speaking tour guide and to explore Moscow. The 4 hours tour will cover all the must-see landmarks of the city, finishing at a cafe with traditional Russian cuisine where you will meet your leader - the Russian wildlife photographer for a brief before the photo tour. 

Moscow has plenty of photo galleries to offer! Depending on your dates, we will provide you with list of photo exhibitions going on during your time in Moscow, including the wildlife photography. Get inspired from fellow masters of nature shooting. 

*Additional: for extra charge we can to organise a master class with the Natural History Museum Wildlife Photographer of the year winner - Vladimir Medvedev who is based in Moscow. 

In the evening you will be transferred to the airport to catch a plane to your next destination - Barnaul (flight S7 217, departure at 22:50).

Equipment

  • For landscape and night photography we suggest you bring a wide angle lens from 10mm upwards.

Day 3 - Arrival to Barnaul

After an overnight flight across Russia you will land in Barnaul and meet your local guide and your driver. You will head towards village Maral'nik, travelling via Chuyskiy Trakt and enjoying the landscape of the Altai. On your way you will reach its highest point - the Seminsky Pass (1800 m above sea level). 

Overnight stay at the village Maral'nik. Additional experience - Russian Banya. 

Day 4 - Multa Lakes 

Today you will travel by an off-road car for 2 hours towards the Lower Multa Lake. Located 1710 m above the sea level is it one of the most beautiful locations in Altai. 

Have some lunch to get the energy as now you will go trekking! Walk along Lower Multa Lake and enjoy the view on the glacier on the above the Higher Multa Lake.  Make sure your camera is ready: you will meet the sunset at the Middle Multa Lake with spectacular views. Back to Lower Multa village campsite to get some sleep.

Day 5 - Kuiguk Lake

On Day 5 you will have an early start to meet the sunrise at the Lower Multa Lake! After spending some time during the golden hour, you will return to the village to prepare the equipment for the overnight tent camping.  

When you are ready you will head to the Kuiguk Lake. Long hike by foot or 2 hours hiking and 3 hours horse riding and you will reach Kuiguk Lake just on time to the sunset hour. 

After the photoshoot you will set your tent camp and have a dinner under around the fire and under the endless sky. 

Day 6 - Sunrise at the Kuiguk Lake

Another early start to catch the morning light at the Kuiguk Lake before heading back to your camp site at the Multa Lake. You will stay at the Multa Lake for the rest of the day.  

Day 7 - Return to Barnaul

Hop on your off-road car to go back to village Maral'nik where you will have some lunch before getting on the car again to go back to Barnaul. 

Overnight stay at a hotel in Barnaul. 

Day 8 - Return to London Heathrow

Morning flight to Moscow (flight U6 652, departure at 07:30am). When you are in Moscow, you can a plane to London straight away, stay in Moscow for a little wile or travel to St Petersburg. Either way Wild Russia will help you to organise the rest of your trip!
